The fastest route
From Kharghar or Panvel, join the Mumbai-Pune expressway at Kalamboli or the Panvel entry point and head toward Pune. Exit at Lonavala or Khandala as per your destination. From Panvel the expressway run is direct, which is why Panvel and Kharghar are the best pickup nodes for this trip.

When to leave
Friday evenings and Saturday mornings are the heaviest. If you are going for the weekend, an early Saturday departure beats a late Friday one. For a Sunday return, leave Lonavala before 4 PM to avoid the rush back toward Mumbai.
